The Cold Box System by Gaztron Engineering Pvt. Ltd. is a state-of-the-art solution for oxygen and nitrogen rectification in air separation processes. Designed with precision and reliability, this system is composed of key components, including the lower column, main condenser/evaporator, upper column, and sub-coolers. It effectively separates feed air into high-purity oxygen and nitrogen, meeting diverse industrial requirements.
Gaztron’s Cold Box System ensures efficient rectification, condensation, and heat exchange to produce liquid and gaseous oxygen and nitrogen with unmatched purity and consistency.
Key Components and Operational Workflow of the Cold Box System:
-
Lower Column (Initial Rectification):
- The feed air from the purification system enters the lower column, where it undergoes rectification.
- Nitrogen Separation: At the top of the column, nitrogen is separated from the feed air. A small portion of this nitrogen is redirected to serve as the heat source for the fine argon column, while the remaining nitrogen is condensed in the main condenser/evaporator.
-
Main Condenser/Evaporator:
- The condensed nitrogen from the main condenser/evaporator is divided into two streams:
- Reflux for the Lower Column: A portion of the condensed liquid is returned to the lower column to aid in rectification.
- Reflux for the Upper Column: The remaining liquid nitrogen is throttled, further cooled in the sub-cooler, and sent to the upper column as reflux.
-
Upper Column (Final Rectification):
- The oxygen-enriched liquid air from the bottom of the lower column is throttled and delivered to the middle section of the upper column after sub-cooling.
- Inside the upper column:
- Product Nitrogen: High-purity nitrogen is obtained at the top of the column.
- Waste Nitrogen: Impurities and waste nitrogen are extracted from the upper section.
-
Heat Exchange and Gas Delivery:
- The nitrogen gas and waste nitrogen are reheated in the sub-cooler and main heat exchanger.
- After reheating:
- Nitrogen Gas: Delivered to the user’s piping network; excess nitrogen is sent to the water cooling tower for refrigeration.
- Waste Nitrogen: Part is used as regenerating gas; the rest is sent for refrigeration in the water cooling tower.
-
Oxygen Production and Storage:
- Gaseous Oxygen: Obtained at the bottom of the upper column and delivered to the user’s piping network after reheating.
- Liquid Oxygen and Liquid Nitrogen: Extracted from the main condenser/evaporator, sub-cooled, and transferred to the user’s storage system for later use.
